Call Me

My first for this year! I checked when was the last and it shows the last one was November 9. Tsk tsk tsk where was I all this time? :) Anyway, i wish you all S9 friends a happy and productive New Year 2010!

Saturday 9: Call Me

1. Who is someone that phones you routinely that you never seem to be up to talk to, but you are not ready to push them out of your life?  None.  I wish there’s one. lol!

2. What is something that effects you deeply, to your core, no matter your mood or what else is going on in your life?  People who can’t just be happy for you or for someone or their friends.  They are just so full of negative thoughts or ideas about your or what you are doing. Haiii i wonder when are they going to leave this earth.

3. Tell us of something that relaxes you and always makes you happy.  Cuddled up in bed with a very fluffy pillow and good book with a very fine weather.  In a quiet environment.  (Mountain please)

4. If you could take the train from anywhere to anywhere, where would ‘anywhere’ be?  Europe? All over Europe.  Although never been there.

5. If you could look into the future, how far down the road would you like to see? 10 years? 100 years? A million?  Just a year or two. :)

6. Did you do your shopping online for this Christmas, how did it go? Did things come in on time? Any significant failures? …and if you didn’t, will you consider trying online shopping sometime this year?  Nope.  I did my shopping early January. :)   And maybe will never shop online ever.  I love the feelign going around shops to pick a present for friends and family.

7. What people or projects are worth your time, money or effort?  My daughter.  My Mom.  My friends.  My job.  And the very least fortunate.

8. Think back when you were in high school. Are you proud of the way you dressed, or do you wish you could go back and change it all?  Hmmm i think i was doing ok.  It was the prescribed dress code.  Am schooling in a boarding school eh where  you can’t go around campus in shorts and sleeveless tops.

9. Do any of your friends, family or co-workers know about your blogs? For those that do, did you tell them or have they stumbled upon it by themselves?  My friends and family yes.  Co – workers?  Some. :)

Buddy Buddy

I have moved into a new home. It’s just a room but i call it a home because it’s where am going home beginning last Monday evening.  Our room got beds and lockers and i need a buddy to be with me during evening times to occupy those quiet moments.  So i will be browsing through some tvs catalogue and take a pick. Hopefully soon i can purchase a personal tube.  I am now beginning to miss TV because i am back in a situation where am just alone though soon my daughter will join me in my new abode.

The first time i saw this cute church in a photo, i then mused to myself that one day if ever i have the chance to pass by the place, i would take a shot, too!  In October 2008, I had the chance.  We were travelling from Davao after the MBS2 summit in General Santos.  Luckily i was with great photographers so we stopped by the place.

The church is located on a hilly spot. I could have gone there if it did not rain.  The rain started to fall so we have to run back to the car or else our cameras will be wet.  If it did not rain, i could have made more shots of the place.

The photo looks glum but it’s the weather.

This place is located along the highway the Bukidnon highway going to Davao City.

Iligan City – The City of My Heart

Iligan is a highly urbanized community in the province of Lanao del Norte in the Southern Philippines. It is about 795 kilometers southeast of Manila. It has a population count of 308.046 in the 2007 Census and for sure am part of that number.

This city is nicknamed as The City of Waterfalls because of the presence more or less 20 waterfalls and that includes the magestic Maria Chritina Falls (Life of the City). Visitors can also enjoy the elegant beauty of Tinago Falls (translated as Hidden Falls) because it is literally hidden in a deep ravine. The way that leads in going to and coming from the falls adds up to the thrill of being there. Some other accessible falls to visit should be Mimbalut Falls, Limunsudan Falls and Hindang Falls.

Currently, Iligan is composed of 44 Barangays with people from diverse cultures. Iliganons are mixture of Maranao and Cebuano with a minority number of cultural minorities which includes the Higaunons. Historically, Iligan already existed during the 1500’s but became noted when it became one of the first Christianized community in the country. The name Iligan is from the Higa-unon word “iligan” or “ilijan” which means “Fortress of Defense.” It became a fortress against the attacks of some hostile Mindanao tribes and pirates.

Locals and tourists alike enjoy the beauty of nature in this place. Sightseeing is not the only activity you will enjoy here but you can also enjoy hiking, trekking the river beds, swimming, mountain climbing, and shopping. The weather is very temperate whole year through so you can also enjoy the cold waters of Timoga Spring Pools. Timoga is very well known to have string of pools along the highway that on peak season, all these places are full. To add to more recreational destinations for residents and visitors, the Maze Park and Resort and also the Taytay Swimming Pool was opened to the public.

Iligan City houses several big industrial plants thus it is being tagged as the Industrial City of the South. These companies contributed a lot to the economy of this city. We also have big sectarian and non-sectarian colleges and universities that caters to the educational needs of the city residents as well as many youths all over Mindanao and beyond.

One of the places that visitors does not fail to visit while in Iligan is the Chedings Peanuts store in Sabayle Street. They sell the famous Cheding Peanuts that every Iliganon or Filipino loves. Not only tourists enjoy this place but also locals. They buy peanuts here or other Filipino sweet delicacies for personal consumption or be sent abroad. Cheding peanuts and also Sukang Pinakurat is relative to the name Iligan City.

Being born and have lived in this place, I consider this city my home of all my homes. It is my desire to see all the interesting places here so that I can live up to the theme of Walang Iwanan sa Bayan ni Juan. If foreigners love our Philippines after they visited us so it is just right that we must love it to the maximum level. Let us Experience Philippines at our utmost ability because this country is a very beautiful country. There is so much to see in this land they call The Pearl of the Orient. So am calling everybody to be aware of Tourism PInas 2009 and let’s join our hands promoting to the world the beauty they need to see in this land we call our home.

If you want to tour Iligan City, you can drop me a line anytime!

Enjoy travelling!

Valdia Gardens, Dipolog City

Valdia Gardens is located along the highway going to  Dipolog City.  It is just a few kilometers from the center of city.  I googled the exact location but it’s not mentioned anywhere in the web but i discovered that Dipolog City is the Orchid City of the Philippines.

According to the TourAgency that we used in that Educational tour, Valdia Gardens is the only place that can hold more than 200 guests.  I cannot confirm this info because i was not able to talk with the owner or the manager of the restaurant.  But all i can say that our group totalled to 320 and we filled up the main building but the wide loans at the side were unfilled.  So i think yeah, it’s a best place to hold big wedding reception or any big parties.
