Travel Tips
By Orman Manansala.
I just so love these tips thinking that I am one of those persons who often have a thing or two that is accidentally left behind when on a travel.
The worst i left was a belt that i really have to go to the market to pick one that can substitute the one that’s left or else i can’t wear the pants I was wearing. I really felt so bad when i left a thing that i can’t easily find a replacement. So even though how much i try to minimize my stuff (minimize but full) yet i just can’t carry a small overnight bag when am on a travel.
After reading, Orman’s tips, i laughed and laughed because it said all that every traveler (either overnight or several weeks trip) should know and do. I mused to myself that i should have read these tips before i went to Bangkok years ago.
1. Travel Documents. Dahil e-tickets na ang uso ngayon, find time to have them photo-copied. Keep a copy in your wallet. Keep one in your laptop bag. And yung dapat mong i-present na kopya should be in a water-proof sling pouch. Photo-copy mo na din ang IDs (student, driver’s license, company ID na may picture and signature mo) and your passport.
2. Clothes. Count the number of days ng travel mo. Halimbawa: 3 days = 3 underwear. I do bring an extra underwear just in case. One decent denim pants for a 3 day trip will do. Kung may formal activity kang pupuntahan then pack light just the same. A simple dress will be just fine.
Kapag gimik and pasyal ever lang, pwede na ang sneakers or boat shoes or sandals. Kung may formal party or activity kang pupuntahan then it would be wise to bring black formal shoes. To save on space, ipasok mo sa shoes mo ang medyas, cell phone charger at anything maliit na bagay na dala mo.
4. Toiletries. In fact, you can always call the front desk or housekeeping para humingi ng kailangan mo. This being the case, wag mo nang dalhin ang toiletries kit mo . Huwag mo lang kalimutan ang papaya soap! Mortal sin yan pag kinalimutan mo. Kung hindi ka naman magho-hotel, make sure that your toiletries are all mini-sized! Mas maige ding wag ka nang magdala and just buy them at the convenience store sa destination mo. And by the way, Baby cologne is the most practical replacement for perfume kaya iwanan na ang malalaking botelya ng fave perfume mo.
5. Medicines. Parang kang traveling hospital nyan. Tip ko lang: Bring meds for headache, toothache, stomach-ache na pwedeng mabili over the counter – at least two of each kind. Bring your condoms too. Safe sex all the time!
6. Camera. Between a point and shoot and my DSLR cameras, I’d take my point and shoot anytime. Ambigat pa ng DSLR and very bulky. Don’t forget the battery charger. Importante ang camera to record your experience.
7. Cell phones.
8. Laptop. I can’t leave without it. Tatlo ang laptop ko. Isang Lenovo. Isang HP Mini-Note. At isang MacBook. Convenience-wise, yung Mini-Note ang dapat kong dalhin. Eh kaso super liliit ng fonts at hirap akong magbasa. Out of the picture na si Lenovo dahil mas mabagal pa syang gumana kesa sakin na ke taba-taba. So I’m left with my MacBook na malaki. Keber na. Other than sosyal sya pinaka-powerful kong laptop ito. I also love the fact that its battery life is tops among all the laptops that I’ve owned and used.
