Weekend of Goodbyes

Our Weekend Memoirs

Id like to think that it is was a very lonely weekend because everyone was leaving.  How i wish i too would pack my bags and go away. hahaahaha.  Seriously i would do so if it is just ok.

Of the 47 ladies, there were only around 10 girls Friday evening. Thursday afternoon, my dorm partner left for a short fun vacation to Bohol. A dear friend left for Bicol early Friday morning. And i was left in a place where i can feel so much emptiness. Yet, the handful of girls and I went to church for vespers and the Saturday. I just missed the Saturday afternoon program because we came in late from our lunch rendezvous at the seaside.

Here are a few weekend photos to share:

a sky photo i took while going up to the dorm through the side door.
when i don’t feel inside, i look up the sky to hope for a positive vibes.

This was taken around past 5 and i was waiting for the sunset.  I enjoy the sky view from the fourth floor and i think last weekend is my last weekend to enjoy sky level view.  We are moving down to the old dorm this week and there will never be any sky view anymore.  :(   Anyways, i did some ironing while waiting for the sun.  And after sometime — i can already see red streaks of sun rays trying to penetrate my pink/lavender curtain.  So i have to run outside the dorm lobby with my camera.

I clicked so many and this one is one of my favorites.  Taken at 5:54 pm.

I was really missing someone when i took those sunset shots.  I was even wondering if he was seeing the sky view i was enjoying that moment.  So i sent him an sms asking – if are we seeing the same sky because if so then for sure the world is just so small because we are seeing the same orange sky.  He replied that he is not seeing an orange sky because sunset is being blocked by a hill.  >> I think if there was no hill for sure the view would be very beautiful because that friend was out in the Lipata pier in Surigao.  They were off to the other side of the island at 7 that evening.

Saturday lunch, i was invited to go along with my boss and friends to have lunch at Hagohoy.

I was still making this post earlier when the power was interrupted.  Now i want to get online from my lappy but it’s not connecting.  I really dunno what’s the problem.  So the few more pics i wanted to share is there.  I can use a usb but this office pc is pregnant with virus and I am afraid that my lappy will be infected if i will transfer files by using the usb.

So am publishing this post now and i hope that tomorrow i can add some more photos.  If not tomorrow, the next day or if not the next day, will post it on Sunday at the main blog.

OWM – Overnight at the Hospital

Friday was quiet day at the office but i look forward to it because it’s the day i planned to have a pedi.  I left the office earlier than usual at lunch time so that i can be able to catch up with Belen (my suki pedicurista).  And of course i did!  I arrived back at the office before 1:30 and i was shaking hungry. lol!

I took a shot of this blue building while waiting for my pedi service:

Anyways, i decided to sleep early that evening but then i was awaken by a knock at past 11 because my sister called.  I should get down as quickly as i can to the Emergency Room.  I thought oh my what’s up with our Baby Gab but when i reached there, it was not Baby but it was my father with an oxygen on.  It was not my sister who was there but my brother and sis-in-law.  They said my father got a mild heart attack.

Oh well, so i stayed the whole night there (lack sleep) until noontime the next day.  He was on bed arrest.  He was comfy using the urinal in his bed but he got no choice.   The night was uneventful but i was a groggy watcher when Saturday morning came.  I missed church and even missed my breakfast and lunch because that morning he was not yet allowed to eat.  I gave him some water after his blood was taken for lab test.

The doctor came around past 12 and she told me that my father have no heart problem.  Instead she saw a different problem.  So i was relieved of the thought that i don’t have to watch him every minute of the next 24 hours.  So, i decided to make the trip to CDO to bond with some friends.  I even met someone whom i haven’t seen since i graduated from college in 1994.  She almost fail to recognize me because i have doubled or almost tripled my college size – but looking at me closely she giggled and said…ohhh my sister! =)  Thanks for the chocolate spread, Jo!  I wish i have taken a photo of us.  I just really forgot about it.  Maybe next time, I will text you and let’s hang around.

I had a great evening and this is what we had for dinner:

My friend called this picadello.  I am not familiar of the recipe but it tastes sooo good that i almost forgot my diet! =)

4 Postcards on the Way

I dropped Philippine postcards at the post office the other day. They are off to the following:

  • Ursula in Germany
  • Anne in Finland
  • Di Zhao in USA
  • Geraldine in France

I got a call from the post office last Friday that i got 5 postcards waiting there.  Hopefully I can pick them up tomorrow. I totally forgot about it this morning when i had so much time — but it was just too hot to really go out in the sun plus am wearing my Monday uniform.  When i asked someone to mail the cards for me I also forgot to tell her to pick the cards.  Haiii am getting so much forgetful these days. (sign of old age?)

Thank You Card from Finland

I received this from Niduska of Finland, thanking of me the postcard i sent her. :-)

I checked out my postcrossing stats and it says i can now send another set of 5 as all my cards had been received already.  One postcard to Germany is marked expired after 76 days.  I guess it’s already lost in the mail.

I got another card today – from Russia!

This card is from a person called Helen but am sad to say I can’t say thanks nor registered that i received this card because she forgot to write the tracking number from Russia.   This is my first from Russia.

A Wedding Invitation

I am waiting for a wedding invitation to arrive.  I dunno when it will arrive but i hope there is one that will arrive.  A very sweet couple is now engaged and their wedding will be 4 months away.  4 months sounds so far yet if you have to live one day at a time you will realized that time flies so quickly.  So the guy browse online for tuxedo shirts and i guess he will be having his measures taken very soon. He wants the best for his wedding so every details are listed and being taken cared of by assigned attendants.

I am looking forward to this wedding. I wish them both a very happy future together full love and understanding.

All of these are from the one of the beautiful and kindest blogger i met in the blogosphere – Mommy Ebie! She is not my mom but i just like calling her mommy because she is one. Her one and only darling daughter Zeee is way way younger than me but i feel we are like sisters.

I know mommy E took the efforts of preparing these stamps to be shared to her online friends.  Then before they took a trip to Death Valley, i mentioned to her if she can pick some postcards for me, then i would really appreciate it.  The two cards here are from Death Valley and that Lone Pine was a place they visited some months back.

I will be scanning these cards for individual posting here in this blog, but will do so when the scanner is not so busy anymore and i also have the time to scan.   But it will be soon.!

Again, thank you Mommy Ebie!  You are the best!

His Name is Joseph

I know that i have better photos to be shared than this but i just can’t forget the plight of this child.

Yesterday, the PASAP- Iligan Chapter went out to Gregorio T Lluch Memorial Hospital to distribute some goods in their OB Section (the ones that gave birth and about to give birth). We prepared 18 bags of little goodies (diapers, water, baby clothes, and small bed mat) and all was given away.

We still have enough bottled water that we were able to give away 2 bottles at the pedia ward and also single bottle at the medical wards. If you want me to describe a city hospital, oh well, there are really patients sections that i can’t help but hold my breath or just cover my nose or else what’s inside my tummy will be out. Yesterday made me think again that for sure i’m not destined to be a nurse.

Going back to Charlie, he was mentioned to us when we were about to go. The one who donated the diapers also gave a cash donation of P1000.00. Before Ma’am Cleo told us about the amount, Ma’am Joy (i think she is one of the supervisors, she went with us in going around) told us of Joseph. She told us of a patient (a child) in the isolation room, naked, no parental care and looks like a HEPA case. We of course can’t go into the room because there was also a TB case in that isolation room. Hearing her described the situation, our hearts went out to the child that we decided to use the cash for donation for a 1 unit of blood for him.

Since we can’t go into the room, we asked a nurse to go in for us and have his photo taken. And the photos she took could really touch you like you have to think over that the life you are having is so precious. After sometime, Joseph came out the room with his mother. I really dunno if that was the mother because she looks ok. Joseph looks so messy and soooo yellow. I have to hold my breath because it was an unpleasant sight.

Since the money was not enough and the blood will be purchased at here in my hospital, so i was given the task to find means that we can purchase the blood with that 1,000.00. To make the long story short, 1 unit of blood costs 2,200.00. Not 1500 as the nurse at the city hospital said. I have 1500 because i solicited 500. But since the blood will really cost me 2000, i have to see the HR secretary to tell me what i can do more. She then texted our own social worker and we were able to borrow the remaining balance to be refunded on Monday after we can process for the charity donation.

At past 11 last night, the nurse at the station texted me that they got the blood and thanked us for the help.

Oh, before i end this post, let me share a snapshot of us:
