Almost Perfect

By , March 9, 2008 6:16 am

It tastes the way i wanted it but does not look like the way it wanted to. My recipe of yesterday – Vermicilli with Sardines and Spring beans.

What’s wrong? I have added salt before adding the soy sauce. It should have been soysauce first and a little salt to complete the perfect taste.

Oh we had this as snacks at same time lunch at 10:30 yesterday. :)

How Lucky Are We?

By , February 9, 2008 8:51 am

I received an sms yesterday from a friend reminding me how lucky I am in many ways. I wanna share that sms with you:

What is A Trashcan?

To a toddler: It’s just a shelf for his ugly toys;

To a student: It’s where he keeps his bad test papers;

To a teenager: A basketcase for the letters of an ex-lover;

To a writer: It’s a file for rejected drafts;

BUT to a streetchild: It’s a trashcan, so goes LIFE…

See how blessed YOU are?

I love that thought. Reminding us that we are more luckier in many ways than those who are less fortunate than us. That is why when Dimple and I were feasting on a big chunk of cold rice with soysause and vegetable oil and I mixed mine with fresh tomatoes yesterday afternoon— hmmmmm it was like real feast. We enjoyed so much and we were so full and satisfied that we did not eat dinner anymore during dinner time. Thansk to that sms, I have to whisper thanks to the Lord for providing us food on the table when some tummies out there are growling in hunger.

Today we ran out of grain rice supply, so i told mom to just make porridge out of those little grains left. Luckily were have a kilo of left over sticky rice, I let mom used a glass of it and mixed it also with monggo beans. When we gathered for lunch, the kids were so happy. One child said, hmmmm mom, you cooked such a delicious lugaw. :D Yeah it was, I am sure it was very nutritious although they spoil it sugar.

"ME TIME"

By , January 27, 2008 2:32 pm
Most of the hours today (daytime) was “ME TIME.” Dimple left home around 1 pm for some school activities so after she left I turned off the computer and then arranged the mess Dimple left in the living room. Then I had uninterrupted time to sorting and fixing personal stuff inside the bedroom. I just love “ME TIME” because I do things I like doing without any interruptions. Aside from that, I love the silence. When all you can hear is jsut the crunching of papers or the sound of the move of the chairs. At times I just love the atmosphere free from children’s noises of fights and teasings and mom’s shouts to shut up. :D

I got up at 7 am today and had the chance to cooked for breakfast. I prepared sauted (no oil) sayote with egg and also the stir fried stripped carrots. Mom loved the no oil one. Hehehehe. For lunch time I prepared eggplant salad with fresh tomatoes and some onions. We also had 1 big papaya for our dessert. This evening, I feel that the boiled vegetables was too bland to look at so I treated ourselves with a can of sardines mixed with lots of calamansi juice and salt. :) Even the cats enjoyed the sardines.

New Year Preparations and Etc.

By , December 30, 2007 2:32 pm
I didn’t busy myself today in shopping for food for the new year’s night. Instead I busied myself cleaning. “totally” cleaning (head to toe) (top to bottom) my bedroom. I started at 9 AM and I ended up past 3. I moved the pc case and pc outside the bedroom and change the position of the bed. It ended up that we got almost half of the room unoccupied. It does not matter the door won’t open wide but at least we got more than a meter wide space of floor. Dimple likes the new look very much.

My wrist is painful. I guess I have used it so much in washing last night and when I wringed the towel, it was jst suddenly painful. I have experienced this before too back in china when I handwash big or heavy clothes. I hope this will just go away soon.

Tomorrow is the last day of 2007 and then 2008 comes. Goodbye 2007 and welcome 2008. May the coming year be a great year for all of us. Hope to blog later or til tomorrow my hopes and goals for the coming new year. :)

ONe interesting news I read this evening was the one that a Woman finds dead rat in her cracker. Not a dried dead rat, but it seems not yet so old because according to the news, it still stinks and she lost her appetite for the days. yayyy. You can read the whole news HERE.

Porridge

By , November 26, 2007 3:34 pm

According to wikipedia, porridge is is a simple dish made by boiling oats (normally crushed oats, occasionally oatmeal) or another cereal in water, milk, or both. Oat and semolina porridge are the most popular varieties in many countries. Some other cereals used for porridge include rice, wheat, barley, and cornmeal. Legumes such as peasemeal can also be used to make porridge.

The picture of porride above is made up of water, left over rice, and some milk. It looks yummy. It’s one of my daughter’s favorite meal in the evening.

I love porridge, too, but not with milk or sugar but a little bit salt jus to have a taste. I vomit when I eat porride that is sweet except for the chocolate porridge (champorado).

But porridge, morning, noon, and evening, and snacks – I think it will make me sick eating it everyday, but surely it will make me lose unwanted fats. LOL!

Never Ending Rain = Flood!

By , November 18, 2007 11:53 pm
It’s been raining since yesterday noontime and for everyone’s information it didn’t stop yet. It will gonna be 24 hours after a couple more hours. It’s not so strong but it’s enough to wet you if you go out wtihout umbrealla. Sometimes, the wind blows too, and it is enough to wet you even if you are carrying an umbrella.

The situation makes me think of a kiddie song such as:

Rain rain go away
Come again another day
Little children wants to play
Rain rain go away!

Please rainnnnnnnnnnnnnn go away! I wanna go to work. We’re really so busy at work now but I won’t ever step on that muddy water again – i’ve stepped on it already when I came home from work coz no other choice..bt not now – now that am in here inside my home.
Well, if it rains more for another couple of hours am sure the water will reach our living room. The growing up water is just a foot away now from the edge of our living room door. I reallydon’t like it to happen. I can just imagine the cleaning to be done when the insides of the house is invaded by flood waters. I have experienced that when I was a kid and the last time was when I was still at my ex hubby’s home in Pampanga — the water so deep that we have to walk by the roofs to be able to get to dry land (the road).
For today – our humble city is declared as:
UNDER STATE OF CALAMITY.
The water has swelled so much yesterday that it has killed children and some adults too. I just wonder why they wonder around when the water swelling so much. OUr city is a coastal city, so if the sea swells and upsteam is gushing out flood….wow! it’s never a joke. The water then could really kill.

My Hideaway!

By , November 17, 2007 1:48 am
Everyone in life has a hideaway – it is a place where you really feel comfortable and so at home. you feel you are protected from the curent pressures and cares. Some opt for a travel to far away place for a few days with phones switched off and tell nobody where they are gone for the next couple of days or weeks or even a month.

But for me, I don’t wait to travel time to have this place to secure me from daily pressures. In my home, my bedroom is my hideaway. My bedroom is not everyones room except for my daughter except though when she is neat and clean. When she’s from school and sweating with dirty pretty badly — hmmm she’s not allowed to step on the bed. And she knows that!

My bedroom offers me the comfort place to stay after a long day at the office and whem my home is too full of kids. It provides me the environment to think well and maintain my sanity inspite of a crazy day and crazy situation. It gives me the privacy that I need when other corners that i want to be in my own home are being occupied.

That is why, in my dream home, there should be at least 3 bedrooms – one for me, one for dimple, and one for the guest or family visits.

How about you? Do you have a hideway in your own home?
