The Apo Hiking Society group graced the town of Iligan last night with their music ( OPM songs). Am an Apo fun although i don’t own any one of their albums nor memorize some of their songs. But for sure — i love ALL their songs. Their theme was “sa ILIGAN nAPOd sila!” which means “They are in ILIGAN AGAIN!

The group sang in “real”. I mean, i mostly saw them in serious songs and formal ang dating on TV but in real — oh my…they can make the people roar with laughter with their simple jokes but dialogued in serious manner. Thier props and choreos were just simply entertaining. It can’t be denied that the years has grown with them but successfully i guess. They are now 39 years and still continue making History and obviously they are still young inside. Boboy still the cute, Danny oh i love his Bisaya dialogues, and Jim wowwww he made me me want to be serious in my exercise. After 39 in Apo – i think he still looks sexy and sway sexy, too. Am not musician in instruments but i am by heart. Their music and songs can really sweep me off my feet and sway my whole body and can also make a tear fall and make me also forever be young at heart.

The concert was a concert for a cause spearheaded by the Iligan Medical Society for their project – Bahay Kalusugan. I can say it was a very successful one. The IIT gym was fully packed with their fans and majority of the audience were first timers to an Apo concert. They said they were here in Iligan too ten years ago and in 1998 i was in Bacolod or in Manila that time.

They mentioned alot of their milestones in their 39 years but i didn’t memorize them all. How i wish i did video the whole concert because for sure i would love to watch it all over and over again. One thing i remember is that – of their 39 years, they have more than 2200 plus concerts, and 22 or more albums.

All in all i did enjoy the concert and so with everyone of them that made it there. The strong rain did not stop the people from coming. The tickets were sold at a price of 3000 the highest and 200 the cheapest. I picked the 200 (to be paid on the 15th) hehehe and mind you i thought it would be a rotten spot. No it was not. It’s a price that i will never ever regret inspite of the financial crisis. One thing i regret was not being able to bring Dimple along because i think her chickenpox is at a contagious stage.

The group sang for the whole hour or more with many songs. Their songs are just timeless. Can be love by our grandmas and grandpas and even our grandkids in the future. No intermission nor change of concert clothes. Except for the 2nd to the last song that they put on an additional clothing as part of their “global” opinion of music these days. It was a hilarious part. People did not want the concert to end. People did not stop clapping and shouted “encore encore” after they exited. So they came back on stage with the song “Batang Bata ka Pa“.

Oh i won’t forget to mention too the Apo Band. Wow the music director was very awesome in drums. I was not able to get his name but he performed great. Actually the band did great too but without a good musical director, that can have a difference.

Some pictures will be posted in my Joys in Life blog for the weekend snapshots. :)
